Three-dimensional (3D) scanning is quickly becoming the next level of diagnostic imaging, and has been a boon to Endodontists and Dentists alike over the past several years. Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. Your Endodontist may use this technology to produce detailed images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, sinuses and bone in a single scan. There is the potential that this technology can locate canals and possible fractures in teeth as well, and help determine if your tooth can be saved or not non-invasively.

This procedure requires little to no special preparation. Tell your Doctor if there is a possibility you are pregnant. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and leave jewelry at home. It only takes a few minutes, and is pain-free.
